What is an NDIS Support Worker and What Do They Do?
An NDIS Support Worker is a trained professional who helps a person with disability live their everyday life with independence, choice and confidence. As an NDIS support worker, you may support people with physical, intellectual or psychosocial disabilities. One thing that we value the most at CareX is that your care and commitment should always reflect the person's individual needs, preferences and NDIS goals. No two shifts are going to be the same. From meal preparation and helping around the home, your care will expand to help the participant develop and practise everyday skills, or even learn completely new ones. Your job can start at home, then go outside along to appointments, or by spending time in the community. Your role changes day to day and participant by participant. More than a worker, you will be a trusted companion in their growth and life. Common support worker duties can include:
Personal Care
Assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, mobility and other personal activities, all
while protecting the participant's dignity and privacy.
Community Participation
This includes providing support and assistance for participants to attend social activities, hobbies, appointments, sports or local community programs.
Skill Building
Help participants practise essential everyday skills such as cooking, shopping, organising routines or managing household tasks.
In-Home Assistance
Support meal preparation, light household tasks like housekeeping, laundry and other daily routines based on the participant's support plan.
Transport and Appointments
Help participants travel safely to appointments, activities, work, study or community events where they mainly need assistance with transport.

Respite Care Support
Offer short-term support that gives participants a safe change of routine, while their families and carers get the time they need to rest and recharge.
Psychosocial Support
Support participants with psychosocial disability to build routines, grow in confidence, stay socially connected and move towards greater independence, at their own pace.
Individualised Living Options (ILO)
Support flexible living arrangements shaped around each participant's preferences, relationships and everyday life, so their home truly reflects who they are.
Community Participation and Social Access
Help participants get out and enjoy their community, whether that's attending events, programs, appointments or hobbies, or simply doing the things that keep them connected.
